Prologue of the Book “My John, I was his Sunshine”
“On a beautiful sunny summer day, when a rock hits a smooth body of water, you see a ripple that touches other rocks, sticks, and swimmers. You feel the splash of the rock, the water circling around your feet, and the light wind and sun caressing your face. Similarly, John, with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes, touched and impacted so many people in his life, especially the woman that he loved and the author of this book. Just like a butterfly is attracted to a lilac, John was attracted to her.
John enjoyed the outdoors in New England – the beautiful green trees that lined the bike path on the Charles River near Boston, the waves swishing the beach in Falmouth, the incredible colors painted on the trees near Squam Lake in Sandwich, New Hampshire, and the gorgeous sunsets – all while walking and holding hands with the love of his life. John had physical challenges due to a back injury at age 10 and wasn’t enjoying his life to the fullest until he met her. He loved looking at the curly dark blonde hair and beautiful smile of his sweetheart and called her “Sunshine” as she brightened his day.
My John, I was his Sunshine is a love story about a couple, both attorneys, who met in a historical office building in Watertown, nine miles outside of Boston, that lasted for 10 years. The love story has a sad ending because of what happened to John. I hope this story will help you understand how wonderful John was and will protect the lives of others like him. This story is about hope and prevention with the objective of saving lives. ”
